There are Seven State Parks within striking distance from the hotel including Falling Waters, Ponce de Leon springs, Eden Gardens, Grayton Beach, Deer Lake, Camp Helen and Fred Gannon/Rocky Bayou. All of them have trails and many birding opportunities. The Florida Trail also passes just south of DeFuniak through the Nokuse Preserve. And there is a State Forest at Pine Log.
